“The location of Ravine Hotel is truly excellent, scenic (but only if you take Valley Plus and Higher grade rooms). The staff are also nice and friendly, ready to help. However, two major issues really need serious attention from the management — WiFi and Cleanliness.

WiFi: The hotel provides a WiFi name and password, but there is absolutely no signal inside the rooms. Even data does not work so WiFi becomes very essential but unfortunately that is not there. It works only in the lounge area, which makes it very inconvenient for guests who need to work, check messages or make online bookings. In today’s time, good WiFi is basic for any hotel, especially one of this standard. The network strength definitely needs immediate and drastic improvement so that guests can access WiFi comfortably from their rooms.

There was also a note saying guests could pay for higher WiFi speeds but when we inquired, we were told it costs ₹750 for just 17 GB valid for 24 hours and even that wouldn’t work properly in the rooms. This is completely unreasonable and unacceptable for a hotel of this level. Charging such a high amount for something that doesn’t even function is unfair to guests

Cleanliness: This is the second and bigger concern. The housekeeping team does clean rooms and passages regularly, but the problem lies in the cleaning method. They seem to use the same bucket of dirty water throughout which turns black, dirty and sticky and leaves the floors worse than before. It gives a very unhygienic feel. During our stay, I even saw them cleaning the fish tanks. Instead of disposing of the dirty tank water properly, they poured it out near the wheelchair-accessible entrance at the main gate, which was quite shocking and unsanitary.

Also, during our 3-night stay, the bedsheets were never changed, only straightened and tucked in. For a hotel of this level, fresh linen daily or at least every alternate day should be standard.

The shower heads are clogged with only a few holes pouring water. They have given a bucket and mug but generally one expects a proper shower and not a bucket and mug. Their jet sprays are placed on the left side with a very short pipe, making it extremely inconvenient to use and the water pressure is mediocre at best.

The management needs to fix these areas — proper WiFi connectivity and better hygiene urgently. If these are sorted, it could easily become one of the best places to stay in Panchgani.”
